Just figured this is the place to start
« on: July 26, 2010, 09:00:00 PM »
I've been researching and asking questions about Ibogaine for a little over  a year now, ever since a brother of mine mentioned it to me at a rainbow gathering.  Finally I was directed here by Cerberus Extract, and  I do believe this is exactly that place I was looking for.  I've been struggling with heroin addiction for over 16yrs, have tried so many form of treatment and watched them work for so many people while I seem to have little lasting success, that the biggest struggle over the past few years has just been trying not to give up hope. Honestly as of late I'd given up hope of ever actually staying off and just began working on accepting that this was the way I was going to die.   Who knows if this will be any different for me then all of the other forms of treatment but I got nothing to lose by trying it other then if I'm lucky a life of cyclical self destruction. Anyway just saying Hi and thank you for being here.

Welcome, you!!!

Iboga kicks particular ass on heroin, for sure. It's a clean, simple detox, in most cases. I've never been addicted to heroin, alcohol was my bugaboo, but I've seen people come through heroin addictions after ibo with the biggest smiles. :)

Brave of you to post! Brave of you to consider kicking H! You've studied, so you know what to do and what not to do, now you can hang around and plan your approach.

I'm glad you're here, hope to see more of you.

peace and carrots,
Tia

Hi Psyconaut,

Using for 16 years - that's a very long time.  By now you have more receptors that you can count.  I've been using for 44 years off and on.  Some people can not quit no matter how hard they try.  We all know alcoholics and addicts that go through treatment after treatment and some make it and some don't, others die.  Yea, it is a dangerous affliction.  It robs you of your health, respect, family, friends and a whole lot more.  You have nothing to lose trying Ibo, just use it intelligently.  It is my believe that if you want to kick you got to change your whole life, you must give up your drug using friends.  Ibo can help you change your whole life.  For example you can give up cigarettes, dope, alcohol, soda, sugar, bad food and such.  Why not use the Ibo Experience to change your whole life.  If you buy Ibo to give up opiates why not take advantage of it to also quit the cigs and other bad stuff.

As you know there is a lot of information and good people on this site learn all you can.

Wishing you the best,

 Roy

These guys give excellent advice.  Iboga can take away your cravings, and can reduce the withdrawal to almost nothing.  That is only the first step, though.  The key is finding another purpose in life, than just getting high.  We become entrenched in acquiring our next high so much, that we lose our identities as anything else.  Finding a new hobby, a new job, getting away from our old scoring spots, and using friends, all are necessary steps in really quitting.

It's very hard to take away the drugs, but continue our lives exactly the same in every aspect.  It's just not going to work for most people, if they don't change their whole lives, especially when they have spent so many years in this habit of up and down that is opiate/opioid addiction.  I hope we can help you figure out your plan of action and offer enough good advice that you can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Know that iboga is a miracle in how it can take away so much pain and craving in a single dose, but it still takes major work on our part to make that stick.  We need to learn all new healthy habits, rather than falling back into our own afflictions out of ease, and familiarity.  Change is good, and we all have that power.  Iboga will show you this, but what you do with that new found knowledge is still up to you!

Best of luck, and welcome to Eboka!

Welcome!

This is indeed a good place to start, and I am glad you have found your way here. We have many people who have been exactly where you are now and can relate to to the feelings and experiences you are going through - please make yourself at home and pull up a log! Look forward to seeing you around, Cal

I was told at my first rehab-- I've been to a total of 5.... and still am stuck on narcotics off and on for chronic pain problems... so much for a "cure" for what ails us-- anyway-- they said the stats are this:  25% of people first admitted to an inpatient rehab will "get it" will never use again and will be the "cures".   50% will end up being chronic relapsers but basically function in the world-- hold down jobs, maybe stay married, raise kids-- it will all be really hard and they tend to drop back to old habits.  The last 25% never get it-- no matter what kind of rehab it is-- and the disease kills them.  I'd say that you and Roy-- having 16 and 44 years between you--- and you are still with us, coherent and doing research to get better---are in that 50% of chronic, fairly functional relapsers.  I don't think that is such a bad place to be.  Some of us 50% to eventually get to the point where we are done, something finally works, something someone says sticks.... you finally move on from your drug world, whatever it is- us 50% have hope.  Never lose hope, always keep looking for the way out is my motto.

Nice to have you here.  BTW-- I am a retired physician, so if you have any medical questions feel free to ask.  I like to help!!

Just need to throw in that I used to be a 'chronic, fairly functional relapser', with a 20 year habit.
Now I'm not. I also don't believe I'm diseased, like the 12 step programs would have me repeat.
Change can indeed happen, don't give up hope, and don't let anyone tell you it can't be done. :)
Or heck, let 'em tell ya, but you don't have sign up for it.

So true that it's what happens after quitting that is very, very important. But there's a lot of good guidance around for that as well.

Again, just glad you're here.

Thank you all very much for the warm welcome.  I absolutely agree with you in the need for a holistic comprehensive approach to treatment. What  I mean by that is I practice meditation, yoga, healthy eating habits, daily exercise, changing of people, places and things. All of these things, beyond just getting over the physical addiction,  go into being able to get and stay clean. I have seen them work for a lot of people and even for myself (over limited periods of time), I'm am really hoping that with the addition of Ibo I will finally be able to break free with lasting effect.

That's a really good place to be coming from, Eboka is sure to approve!

Ibo will give you a running start on getting clean, that is for sure.  It's staying clean for the duration of the race that gives some problems.  Analyzing why you have relapsed in the past, while you are waiting for the ibo experience, can be a big help in eliminating those 'triggers' that have been problems previously.

You sound like a very intelligent and sensitive person, and probably have an excellent understanding of what those triggers are.  Please allow me to suggest that you start working on all those things that you are able to right now.  Prepare yourself and your environment and the experience will be more fruitful, IMHO.

Since you meditate, I'd like to say that I found meditating after dosing, until the effects became apparent, was very helpful in calming and clearing my mind for the ibo visions and revelations.  This will only work if you use TA, which takes > 1 hour to 'come on'.  If you use ibogaine HCl, you will want to meditate before dosing, due to its rapid onset.

This Forum is a wonderful place to plan your experience.  Everyone here does their best to help.  Please don't be shy about asking questions.

Wishing you TOTAL success in your quest!
